  The families of some victims of the #EndSARS protests in Oyo State have filed a criminal complaint before the Oyo State Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogbomoso against the state police command. They accused the police of perverting justice in the extrajudicial killing of their sons. The families, who were represented by their lawyer, Hussein Afolabi, alleged that the Divisional Police Officer of the Owode Police Station, Ogbomosho, Babalola Sarafa, and the Area Commander of the Ogbomosho Area Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, and other policemen fired at protesters which led to the death of four youths: Jimoh Isiaq, Ganiyu Moshood, Taiwo Adeoye and Pelumi Olatunji.   The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday reinstated the suspended thirteen Local Government and Local Council Development Areas Caretaker Chairmen. The decision was taken after the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters read by its Chairman Hon Olusegun Popoola. Recall that the Oyo State Forum of Caretaker Chairmen had in a letter begged the House to forgive the suspended Caretaker Chairmen and return them back to their various councils. The affected Caretaker Chairmen in the Committee report said the #Endsars protest which rocked the country prevented them from gaining access into the House of Assembly to submit the report of earth moving equipment as directed and consequently tendered their unreserved apology to the House.   The Oyo State Controller of Works, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Mr Kayode Ibrahim, says completion of the 52-kilometre Oyo-Ogbomosho highway project is on course. Ibrahim stated this on Wednesday in Ibadan while speaking on the Federal Government road projects in the state. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on November 4 approved the augmentation of the road initial contract sum from N47.50 billion to N105.04 billion. The changes in the prices was as a result of adjustment in the scope of work. These are the thickness of the pavement from 500mm to 560mm, change from asphalt to polymer-modified bitumen and also the shoulders from surface dressing to fully asphalted inside and outside.   The National Universities Commission, NUC has interfered in the lingering crisis between Oyo and Osun states over the ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso. OGBOMOSOINFO learnt that the crisis caused disagreement between the two states in the release of subsection and the appointment of principal officers of the institution and the recruitment of staff. According to Vanguard, the interference of NUC into the matter became neccesary because while Oyo State is ready to completely take over the university, Osun seems not disposed to that and the two states are not in favour of the Federal Government taking over the ownership of the school as being suggested in some quarters.    The Executive Governor of Oyo State has inaugurated a 11-man judicial panel of inquiry, to investigate cases of police brutality and other related extrajudicial acts by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the state. OgbomosoInfo reports in Ibadan on Tuesday that the panel has Hon. Justice Badejoko Adeniji as Chairman. Justice Badejoko Adeniji is a former Chief Judge of Oyo State.   The Oyo state house of assembly has received a letter of apology from the state’s forum of caretaker chairmen, to solicit pardon for the 13 local government and local council development areas chairmen who were recently suspended indefinitely over contempt of the parliament. The letter dated the 4th of November, 2020, and read to the lawmakers by the speaker, Oyo state house of assembly, Rt. hon Adebo Ogundoyin stated that the failure of the 13 local government and local council development areas to submit earth moving equipment reports in their domains were never a deliberate action to undermine the authority of the legislature, and appealed to the house to temper justice with mercy.
