  Oyo State Police Command on Friday 17 paraded suspected kidnapping syndicates terrorizing the people of Igana Iwajowa local government area, as well as the Ogbomoso axis of the state. The suspects according to the state police public relations officer, SP. Adewale Osifeso briefed journalists at the Oyo State Command Headquarters Eleyele Ibadan on behalf of the state commissioner of Police, CP. Adewale Williams is one Anjola Abimubakar, aged 25, Sani Abacha Abdulahi, 28, Sani Abacha Jafaru, 26, Sale Muhammadu, 25, Isha Seriki Muhammed, 25, Aliu Jafaru aged 50, Umar Abubakar, 34, Mustapha Baruguma aged 20, Unaru Jale Usman, aged 56, Abdulahi Muhammed Sani, aged 42, Jamiu Jubril, 45, Kayode Kolade, 35, Laggi Usman, 28, Jamiu Iroko, 30, Sule Bello, 20, Umar Shuaibu, 20, Kali Weti aged 29 were responsible for the abduction of one Aishat Lawal female, Haruna Jaye, male and Olasunkanmi Wasiu.   Oyo state government has announced Monday, August 1st, 2022 as public holiday  to commemorate the new Islamic Year – Hijrah 1444 AH. This was made known by Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, the Secretary to the Oyo State Government via a circular letter dated July 28th, 2022 and titled, “Declaration of Work-Free Day to Mark Hijrah 1444AH. In the circular, Governor Seyi Makinde enjoined all and sundry to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and sustainability of the state in particular and the nation in general.

  Barely  45 hours that medical personnel, Mr. AbdulRasheed regained freedom after the payment of a N3million ransom, two persons have also been kidnapped by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Ogbomoso. It was gathered that their latest victims including a hotelier were abducted in a hotel around the Abaa area, Ogbomoso, Oyo state on Thursday evening. The hotelier, who also owns a farm according to information is hypertensive, and so on drug and was said to have just returned to Ogbomoso from a trip this evening. Although the details and identity of the victims are still scanty at the time of filing this report. It was gathered that the security operatives including, police operation burst and amotekun are already combing the area. Recalled that two weeks ago a supervisor at TDB farms owned by former governor Adebayo Alao Akala was abducted in Jabata and was released after paying a N5 million ransom.

   The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogbomoso zone, Oyo State, has said the first set of students of the institution will resume academic activities in September this year. This is just as it denied a report, that the school is foot dragging in commencing activities and is defying the directives of the Federal Government in that regard.   The abducted medical personnel at Gbede, a  community in the Surulere local government area of Ogbomoso zone in Oyo state, Mr. Abdulrasheed has regained freedom. The kidnappers had contacted the family on Monday demanding the sum of N30m as ransom.  The source said that the medical personnel was released after the sum of N3m was paid as ransom. Commenting, the chairman of Surulere local government Hon Isaiah Adegbite said the victim was released after the family paid a ransom of N3m to the gunmen.   About 72 hours after ex-Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s farm supervisor, Christopher Bakare regained freedom after the payment of N5million ransom, medical personnel, simply identified as Baba Rasheed also been kidnapped by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Surulere Local Government Area of Ogbomoso in Oyo state.     Some gunmen have abducted a farm supervisor on the farm of a former Governor of Oyo State, late Adebayo Alao-Akala. Alao-Akala, who was an indigene of Ogbomoso, ruled the state as governor between 2007 and 2011. The farm worker, who hails from Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government Area in Osun State, was kidnapped on the farm named TDB farms located in Jabata in Surulere Local Government Area in Oyo State. It was gathered on Tuesday that the worker, Christopher Bakare was kidnapped around 7 pm on Saturday by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen. The kidnappers are also demanding the sum of N100m as ransom. A close source to the Alao-Akala family and an indigene of Ogbomoso, confirmed the abduction on Tuesday. He said that the matter has been reported to the police. “We have been trying to negotiate with them even though the police had been informed”. Another source added that Police Area Command in Ogbomoso, has been informed about the incident.

                    Hon Segun Popoola The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East State Constituency II at the Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon Segun Popoola, is dead. Popoola died on Tuesday night at the University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan where he has been receiving treatment. He died at the age of 46. Until his death, he was the Chairman, Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters. Popoola who was elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, was among the lawmakers that signed the allegations notice against the Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan. He was also the candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.

                Pastor Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye The Christian Association of Nigeria has advised Oyo State  Governor, Seyi Makinde, not to reject Pastor Afolabi Olaoye, popularly known as Ghandi as the next Soun of Ogbomoso because he is not a Muslim.    Prince John Oyekola, popularly known as Apatapiti, is dead. He died Monday evening during a brief illness. Until his death, he was president of the Oyo State Cooperative Federation (OSCOFED). Oyekola was a popular On-Air Personality, whose programmes on NTA Ogbomoso, Ajilete FM, and Parrot FM enjoyed a wide audience. He was also a clothes and shoe merchant.  Born on November 26, 1962, he is survived by his wife and children.

Federal Government has declared Monday and Tuesday next week, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration for Muslims. This was announced by the ministry of interior on Thursday. “The Federal Government has declared Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th July, 2022, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” the interior ministry wrote on its official Twitter page. Muslims worldwide are expected to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival on Saturday. The festival is used to mark the importance of obedience and sacrifice as epitomised by Prophet Ibrahim who, according to Islamic belief, was ordered to kill his son by God, and was willing to obey the order until God replaced the sacrifice with a ram.
