Makinde Inaugurates School Governing Boards For 643 Oyo Schools

  Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has inaugurated School Governing Boards for the 643 secondary schools in the state, saying it will help reinforce his administration’s achievements in the education sector. The Governor, who stated this during the inauguration of chairmen and members of the SGBs for the 643 state-owned secondary schools, also declared that all the policies introduced by his government in the education sector have been yielding positive results. He was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, at the event held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. Oba Gabriel Adepoju, Oloko Of Oko Ile, Dies At 85

  An Oyo monarch, the Oloko of Oko Ile, Oba Gabriel Adepoju, died on Sunday at the age of 85. Until his death, he ruled over Oko Ile town, in Orire Local Government, Oyo State, Radio Nigeria reported. Oba Adepoju ascended the throne of his fathers in the year 1997 and joined his ancestors in the early hours of Sunday. Three prominent monarchs in state had passed on between December 2021 and January 2022. The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi joined his ancestors on 12th December 2021 at the age of 95. The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji died on January 2nd 2022 at the age of 93.

Oyo Approves Consolidated Salary Scale For HLAs

  Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has spoken of the generosity of the late Adebayo Alao-Akala, former governor of Oyo state. Osinbajo said Alao-Akala always gave him pocket money when he was in need of financial assistance, long before he became a professor. Alao-Akala: Oyetola, Fayemi, Others Pay Condolence Visit to Family in Ogbomoso

  Prominent Nigerians have continued to visit the Ogbomoso residence of the former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, to commiserate with his family. Some of the dignitaries who visited the Opadoyin residence of the Alao-Akalas on Friday were Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun and Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti. Others were the widow of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, and members of the All Progressives Congress Elders Advisory Council in the state.  The home of the Alao-Akalas had become a Mecca of sorts since the demise of the former governor, who died on January 12. Immortalise Alao-Akala - House of Reps Tells FG

The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to honour the memory of the former Oyo state governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, by immortalising him. The call followed the adoption of a motion of urgent importance to recognise and honour the late Alao-Akala moved by Hon Segun Odebunmi. Moving the motion, the lawmaker insisted that Alao-Akala, while in office as deputy governor and governor, served and contributed immensely towards the growth, development, peace and sustainability of Oyo state and Nigeria. It would be recalled that Chief Alao Akala died in his town, on 12th January 2022 at the age of 71. Hon.   The national leader of the All Progressives Congress and 2023 Presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has visited the family of the late Christopher Alao-Akala in Ogbomoso, Oyo state. He also paid condolence visit to the family of late Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi Ajagungbade III.   Osi Olubadan and former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has described the death of his former deputy and successor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala as a huge loss to him. In a condolence statement, Ladoja said he was shocked to hear the news of Alao-Akala’s death, recalling that they were together at two separate functions in Ibadan recently, the last being the funeral of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.   Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has ordered that flags be flied at half-mast, in honour of former governor, Alao Akala; who died at the age of 71. OYRTMA Establishes New Operational Commands in Ogbomoso

  The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority, (OYRTMA), Dr Akin Fagbemi, has said the authority has established a new operational command along Ladoke Akintola University Ogbomosho and four other areas in Ogbomosho to enhance safety on the Zone’s road network. Fagbemi said this on Tuesday while on a working visit to the agency’s new commands in Ogbomosho, adding that the new move will enhance administrative and operational effectiveness in Ogbomosho zone. Soun’s Eldest Daughter Dies at 71

  It was another mournful weekend for the family of late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi as the monarch’s first daughter, Prof. Taibat Danmole, died after a brief illness. Danmole, 71, died on Saturday, January 8, less than one month after the death of her father, Oba Oyewumi; who joined his ancestors on December 12 at the age of 95. According to a palace source, “Baba’s first daughter died on Saturday. She has been sick for some time. We just pray that God will spare the lives of those of us remaining”. Reports have it that the deceased would be buried in Ilorin, Kwara state capital. The deceased was married to the Dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Prof. Hakeem Danmole.
