The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has asked the people of the state to join hands with his Government to make the State greater in 2020. The Governor, in a New Year address to the indigenes and residents of Oyo State, said that his aim in the New Year is to make the State a hub for education tourism in the country. Makinde Commends Oyo Fire Fighters,To Procure New Firefighting Vehicles In 2020 |OGBOMOSO INFO|

Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has commended the Oyo State Fire Service for containing all fire incidents in the State. He said this in a statement,following some fire outbreaks in Ibadan yesterday. He said, "I was duly informed by the Director of Fire Service, about the 5 fire outbreaks at various locations in Ibadan, yesterday". He also commiserated with the victims, while he thanked God there were no casualties. "As I commiserate with those who lost properties in these fires, I am thankful that no casualty was recorded". Governor Makinde further thanked Oyo State Fire services for curbing the fire incidents in Ibadan and ensuring they did not spread to cause more damage. He assured residents, that the State Government has budgeted to procure new firefighting vehicles and other equipment for the fire service in 2020, noting that this would provide a more efficient service.

The sacked chairmen of the local governments in Oyo State have warned the newly inaugurated council bosses to desist from executing the statutory responsibilities of the office, informing them that it is illegal for them to carry out financial and other activities on behalf of council authority. The embattled sacked chairmen further warned the banks housing the councils accounts against recognising the newly inaugurated chairmen as well as allowing them to transact through the banks. Man Lands in Prison For Stealing Government's Christmas Decorations In Oyo |OGBOMOSO INFO|

A 45-year-old man who identified himself as a scavenger, Kamorudeen Salau, has been arrested by officers of the Oyo State Police Command in Ibadan, the state capital. Salau was on Friday brought before an Iwo Road Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing Christmas decorations erected by the Oyo State government. Oyo state government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde had recently decorated some roundabouts within the Ibadan metropolis for the Christmas and New Year celebrations with gifts from corporate and individuals. But, Salau, whose address was unknown, was arraigned on a one-count charge of stealing on Friday. The Prosecutor, ASP Sunday Ogunremi, told the court that on Dec. 26, at about 11.30 am., Salau allegedly stole some iron rods, valued at N20,000 and some Christmas decoration materials, valued at N5,000. It was a black Boxing Day in Ogbomoso area of Oyo state as hundreds of sympathisers wailed over death of five persons involved in a ghastly accident. No fewer than five people died in an auto-crash which occured along Ogbomoso-ilorin road today. Mr Kofoworola Olabisi, a staff of Nigerian Television Authority(NTA), Ogbomoso was also among the people that lost their lives on the ever busy road. Several other people were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries  in the  auto crash involving two vehicles . The injured, it was gathered, had been evacuated to nearby medical facilities in Ogbomoso by men of the Federal Road Safety Commission ( FRSC) and police men . The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Monday, signed into law the state’s 2020 appropriation bill of N213,788,033,002.97, maintaining that the targeted 70 per cent implementation remains. The approved budget is an increase of about N4.985billion from the N208,802,972,878 billion presented on the floor of the state Assembly on November 27. The 2020 budget is composed of recurrent expenditure of N110.427,855,919 billion and capital expenditure of N103.360,177,083.97 billion. The highest sum of N49.97billion was set aside for infrastructure development out of which the sum of N35.4 billion is provided for ongoing and proposed road projects.
