 Two members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, were crushed to death by a trailer in Ogbomoso, Oyo state. The duo had been buried. Investigations, however, revealed that one of the victims, Afolabi Tunde, who was an APC youth leader in the town, was a delegate from the state in the just concluded convention of the party. He is survived by his widow, two children, and aged parents. It was further gathered that Tunde, fondly called Tunde Aluta, celebrated his 49th birthday on Monday, after returning from the convention in Abuja. Sources said Tunde Aluta and another party member, Alawuye Sabitu, were on a motorcycle, on Tuesday afternoon, when the truck rammed into the bike and crushed them.   The Oyo State Government has solicited for partnership with Canadian government in promoting and exploring tourism potentials in the state. Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Wasiu Olatunbosun disclosed this during a courtesy visit to his office by the Counsellor (Management) and Consul Deputy High Commission of Canada, Aissatou Seck today.     The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), on Monday, donated 100 hospital beds and other equipment to aid healthcare delivery in Oyo State. While presenting the items received from the SDGs Office in the Presidency, Abuja, to the Oyo State Ministry of Health, the  Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Sustainable Development Goals, Hon. Kunle Yusuff, said that the items were received due to the cordial relationship between the  Oyo State SDGs Office and the Office of the OSSAP at the Presidency.   Ogbomoso kingmakers, also known as the Ilus, have forwarded the name of a US-based businessman and pastor with Redeemed Christian Church of God, Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, for approval as the  Soun of Ogbomosoland.  According to a source, the name of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye was conveyed to the governor by the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon Kabiru Akanji Ayoade, by the Oyo State Chiefs Law. He emerged as Soun-elect following the interview conducted for 25 candidates on Tuesday,  by the kingmakers. The stool of Soun became vacant following the demise of Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Soun Ajagungbade 111 on the 12th of December 2021 at the ripe age of 95.

  The National Universities Commission (NUC), may have widened the horizon for the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, as it gave final nod for the Oyo State owned Institution to offer thirteen new courses on full-time mode. A letter from the NUC dated March 14, 2022, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor and signed by Dr. Noel Biodun Salihu, Director of Academic Planning on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NUC, conveyed the approval. The letter explained that it followed the resource verification visit that was carried out recently by panels of experts to some proposed academic programmes in the University.   Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso Alumni Association has warned Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State against the proposed remaining of the institution. The alumni association explained that thousands of graduates of the institution would suffer in their workplaces if the governor goes ahead to rename the institution. OGBOMOSOINFO recalls that the institution, which was established three decades ago was formerly owned by both Oyo and Osun States.   Twelve people on early Saturday morning are said to have been burnt to death in a multiple fatal auto accident along the Ilorin-Ogbomoso expressway in Kwara State.  It was gathered that the accident happened at about 6:47 am at the Otte community in the Asa local government area of Kwara state, located along the expressway. A total number of 18 people were said to have been involved in the auto crash, while 12 of the victims were reportedly burnt beyond recognition. Six of the survived victims reportedly suffered varying degrees of burns. It was also gathered that the causes of the crash were route violation, speed violation and loss of control. The two vehicles involved in the crash included a white colour commercial Toyota Hummer bus with no registration number and a white colour commercial DAF Volvo trailer.     The Oyo state government has commenced its erosion control project in seven local government areas of the state, which are prone to erosion and flood. Oyo State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) stated that it has begun implementing its oriented programmes to tackle the menace of erosion and other environmental disaster under the World Bank Assisted project, in the state. The Project Coordinator of OYO NEWMAP, Engr. Omowunmi Yakub while holding meetings with community leaders and other stakeholders in various benefiting communities in the state, disclosed that the Oyo state government has graciously approved the commencement of desilting and clearing of waterways in all the mapped sites of seven local government areas in the state. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bode Ladipo, in a statement, available to Journalists in Ibadan on Thursday said that Four (4) health workers were confirmed positive for Lassa fever, while three out of them consisted of two (2) Doctors and another hospital staff died despite all efforts at caring for them by experts.
