Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah in the State and across the world on the occasion of the Eid-il-Kabir celebration and admonished them to continue to adhere to the teachings of love, sacrifice and perseverance, which the festival exemplifies. Eid-El-Kabir: Oyo to Open Muslim Praying Grounds |Ogbomoso Info

The Oyo State Government, on Thursday, said Muslim Praying Grounds across the state will be opened for the 2020 Eid-el-Kabir prayers, warning, however, that Muslim faithful must ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols in the state. According to the government, it has become imperative for the sake of public health and wellbeing of all worshipers that the Eid prayers are conducted in strict compliance with the guidelines on prevention of COVID-19. The government urged the leadership of each praying ground in the state to ensure availability of hand wash points and compulsory use of nose masks. The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde signed into law the reviewed 2020 appropriation budget. The State lawmakers yesterday passed the bill reviewing the budget from N213billion to N174billion, noting that there is a substantial justification for the request made by the executive arm of government. The streamlining of the budget size tends to achieve a realistic budgeting in the State which is one of the key advocacies of the finance and budget experts. The newly reviewed budget is to accommodate the latest financial reality of the nation and the State courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic which has led to drastic drop in oil price, national revenue and subsequently reduction in federal allocation to States and revenue generation in Oyo State.

The government said students will have two weeks to prepare for the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination organised by the West Africa Examination Council. The police command in Benue has said that unknown gunmen on Friday kidnapped Ogbomoso born businessman, Asiwaju Isaac Akinkumi, the CEO/MD Tito Group, at his Makurdi residence.
