Seyi Makinde, on his plan to turn the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, to a multi-campus institution. The National Universities Commission recently ceded the university to Oyo State and ceded the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, to Osun State. After this, Makinde made known the plan of his administration to turn the university into a multi-campus institution.   The Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OYSACA) has announced that between January and June, 2020, over 6,900 individuals tested positive for HIV in the States despite measures taken to curtail the spread of the virus. While briefing the press on Thursday to kick start the 2020 World AIDS celebration in Ibadan, the Chairperson of OYSACA who is also the Wife of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Tamunomini Makinde, said the prevalence of HIV in the state remains at 0.9 percent, with more women as victims than men. Engineer Makinde who was represented by OYSACA’s Executive secretary, Dr Lanre Abass announced that as of June 2020, the agency had counselled and tested over 765,000 people, with 0.9 per cent testing positive even as the state procured N4 million worth of condoms for distribution in the community as part of measures to curtail the spread of HIV.   The Deputy Governor of Oyo state , Engr. Rafiu Olaniyan has said a satellite campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH),Ogbomoso will be cited in Oke Ogun. Olaniyan said several towns  in the region  have been lobbying for the satellite campus , "they do come to me but I told them I alone  cannot determine the location of the campus and wherever it is cited we will all benefit ". Speaking as a guest speaker at the 18th Anniversary of Okeho news ,the Igboho born civil Engineer said he has met with the governor on the matter and there is an assurance that a campus is coming to Oke Ogun. Olaniyan also said that he is initiating a plan for rehabilitation of some roads including Okeho- Igana- Ayegun road, Saki- Ilesa Bariba road and another one in Iseyin.

  The Agro Ranger Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Oyo State Command, has arrested a Welder, Bahiru Bello, for vandalising a transformer. The 34-year-old man from Igbeti was reportedly arrested on the 26th on Thursday in Ikoyi-Ile, Ogbomoso around 9am while trying to escape with some transformer cables. According to the state Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Isikilu Akinsanya, Bello was apprehended by a team of the Agro Ranger Squad while trying to escape with the stolen cables. Items recovered from the suspect at time of his arrest includes armoured cables, a rench, glove, hacksaw and a range. The Commandant, who commended the residents of the state for their cooperation with the corps, said all hands must be on deck to curb crime and criminality. He assured the people of the state of full discharge of their duties as a credible security agency. Akinsanya said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.

The university was founded on April 23, 1990, by the old Oyo State Government before Osun State was carved out on August 27, 1991. The joint ownership created so much trouble that at a time, a Vice-Chancellor of the university was unceremoniously removed. There was a period the school was closed for about a year.     The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Monday presented a budget of #266, 664, 273, 205 as 2021 budget on the floor of Oyo state House of Assembly. The Governor said that the capital expenditure would have 53.2percent of the total budget. Tagged ‘Budget of Continued consolidation’, Governor Makinde said the budget is N12bn Naira above last year’s budget. According to him, the recurrent expenditure is N136, 262,990 while the capital expenditure is N130, 381, 56b 348. The Governor also said 21% of the budget would be allocated to the education sector of the state. He commended the lawmakers for their supports and promised continuous collaboration with the lawmakers.

  The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Oyo State branch, has lamented the inadequacy of veterinary doctors in the Oyo State Civil Service. According to Guardian,The state chairman of NVMA, Dr Dayo Adejuyigbe, stated this during a visit to the leadership of the Oyo State House of Assembly, said the current situation in which only 13 veterinary doctors were in the civil service of Oyo State made Veterinary Services Department unable to perform its many statutory functions efficiently.   The National Universities Commission has transferred ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH Ogbomoso to the Oyo State Government while the Osun state Government is to take over the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo. The resolution followed the lingering ownership of LAUTECH over the years. The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission Professor Abubakar Rasheed stated this at a media briefing in Abuja. Professor Rasheed said both Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Adegboyega Oyetola signed a memorandum of Agreement to the development. The NUC boss expressed optimism that the new arrangement would restore peace to LAUTECH.

  A traditional ruler in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Chief Moses Ajala has been crushed to death. According to a source, the accident happened at Aroje on Ogbomoso-Ilorin old road. The ruler, Abese Alayede, was hit by a fast-moving car when he tried to cross the road. The Toyota Camry car with Lagos registration number LSR 16 JN was said to be heading towards Ilorin when it ran into the man and killed him on the spot. Further information gathered also added that the traditional head alighted from a vehicle and tried crossing the road.   Tragedy has again struck Nigerian football after former Crown Football Club, Ogbomoso Yusuf Usman Usein, popularly known as Eiye, slumped and died while featuring in a friendly game with his yet to be signed new club, Gateway United FC, on Sunday.  According to Crown FC Media Officer, he recuperated after being attended to by the team medics,but later gave up the ghost at the club camp house in Abeokuta and his remains has been deposited at the morgue. "  Eiye who also plied his trade with the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3sc) of Ibadan, was a very hardworking, easy going, loyal, very dedicated and God fearing player." He was said to have slumped after the first half of the game. Details of his burial arrangements remains sketchy as at the time of issuing this release. Crown FC however pray that Allah forgives him of his shortcomings, uphold the families he left behind in this grief period and grant him a place in paradise.

  Fresh facts have emerged on why four caretaker committee chairmen in Oyo State were summoned and grilled for six hours by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja last Thursday. Investigations by Tribune Online on Sunday revealed that the chairmen, since assumption of office, have allegedly been using councils’ tractors for personal use as well as allegedly contracting them out for business purposes.
