Three Killed in Fatal Auto crash on Ilorin-Ogbomoso Highway

  Three persons have lost their lives in a fatal auto crash at Otte town on Ilorin-Ogbomoso highway on Saturday. Several others were injured in the fatal auto crash. Otte town is some kilometres from Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The two vehicles involved in the crash, a pepper laden Mistibushi pickup and a black Toyota corolla private car had a head-on collision, according to eyewitness accounts. The accident sources revealed was caused by excessive speed. The three victims reportedly died on the spot. According to DAILY POST the car was coming from Ilorin, while the pepper laden vehicle was heading in the opposite direction. The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Jonathan Owoade, confirmed the accident when contacted on phone on Saturday. He said three persons died, while others sustained fractures and head injuries. Owoade said the injured victims were taken to the state General Hospital, in Ilorin, while the corpses have been deposited at the morgue.

Kidnappers Disguise In School Uniforms To Abduct Children – Oyo Govt

    The Oyo State Government has warned parents, guardians, and school-age children to reject free rides from unknown persons. The state government revealed that this is necessary in order to avoid being kidnapped. The state government on Friday, explained that kidnappers have developed another method by wearing school uniforms in order to abduct school children. It added that kidnappers now perpetuate their criminal acts by wearing school uniforms to abduct school children, particularly in Ibadan, the state capital. The government then admonished parents to sensitise and warn their children against falling victim. It advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to be security conscious by rejecting free rides from strangers. Drug Abuse Rate In Oyo Alarming, Ranks Second In Southwest –NDLEA

    The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has expressed worry about the high rate of drugs and substance abuse especially among the youth in the South-West, especially Oyo and the Lagos States. The Principal Staff Officer in charge of Treatment and Rehabilitation, NDLEA, Oyo State Command, Titilope Asiru, said this in her presentation in Ibadan on Wednesday. Speaking at a drug-free symposium organized for secondary school students by Ayo Fatokun Foundation in collaboration with Psychid Foundation; Konymandibio Foundation and JOCHJED Foundation, the NDLEA said the drug use prevalence in Lagos and Oyo States stood at 33 and 23 percent respectively. FG Grants NNPC’s Approval To Complete Oyo-Ogbomoso 52km Road

The federal executive council (FEC) has approved request of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to take over the reconstruction of 21 federal roads, including the dualization of Ibadan-Ilorin road (Route A2) Section II in Oyo State (Oyo-Ogbomosho) 52km. The road projects would cost N621.2 billion in exchange for tax. Babatunde Fashola, minister of works and housing, disclosed after the FEC meeting presided by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday. The minister said that the roads would cover a total distance of 1,804.6 kilometres. Oyo Govt Sets Up Committee for Sustainable Waste Management

  The Oyo State Government has announced the creation of an intervention committee that will monitor the evacuation of wastes and refuse in the State. The Committee consists of management from Oyo State Waste Management Authority, the Ministry of Environment and some selected PSPs. A statement released and signed by the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni, said the government will soon roll out a sustainable roadmap on waste management. The Commissioner admitted that waste has taken over some parts of the State but assured citizens that efforts are on to tackle the challenges on the evacuation of solid wastes on major roads, medians, and other open spaces in no distance time. Oyo state government among states yet to pay victims of police brutality a year after they set up panels on human rights violations. The non-payment, the Nigerian Bar Association lamented the refusal of states to pay compensation to victims of police brutality. In a statement by its President, Olumide Apata, the organisation said only Lagos State had paid compensations to victims as recommended by the several judicial panels set up. He said it was unfortunate that during the one-year anniversary of the #EndSARS protests, demonstrators were being harassed by security agents. A member of the panel in Oyo State, Mr Babs Oduyoye, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, told The PUNCH that payment would be made from Abuja after the state government had submitted the report to the Vice-President. Alayede of Ayede Joins Ancestors

  Alayede of Ayede, Oba Solademi Akanni Adewuyi II has joined his ancestors. This was confirmed through a letter by the Alayede Royal family, signed by its secretary, Prince Adepoju Adekanmi Sunday, and dated October 19, addressed to the chairman of Ogo-Oluwa local government, Mr. Seun Ojo, and another to the Ogo-Oluwa local government traditional council. Oyo Govt Releases Take-off Grant For LAUTECH College of Agriculture

    Oyo State Government has released the take-off grant for the commencement of activities at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH)’s College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin, in Iseyin local government area. Oyo Assembly Approves Makinde’s Request to Access N18.7bn

  The Oyo State House of Assembly has given its nod to Governor Seyi Makinde to access N18.7bn Federal Government Bridge Facility meant to cushion the effect of Covid-19 pandemic in the State. The request was contained in a letter forwarded to the State legislature by Governor Seyi Makinde and read during Monday’s plenary by the Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin. President Muhammadu Buhari approved the bridge facility for all the 36states of the Federation and it will be accessed from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN It was meant to give support to States following the resumption of monthly deductions for the repayment of their various loan facilities. The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 19, 2021, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the promotion of religious harmony in the state. EFCC Arrests 22 for Alleged Internet Fraud in Ogbomoso

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Command, on Tuesday, arrested 22 suspected ”Yahoo Boys” for alleged involvement in internet fraud in Ogbomoso. The suspects are Akintunde Ibrahim Olajide, Yusuf Taiye Afeez, Jimoh Idris Okikiola, Adeyemo Wariz Adegoke, Ademola Olalekan Saheed, Anif Abayomi Busayo, Oriade Sunday Oluwatobi, Ajadi Opeyemi Damilola,Peter Akanji Blessing,Olaoluwa Felix Oguniran, Agbei Shola Peter, Toheeb Adeagbo Tola, Ajayi Akinyinka Umar.   Others include Ibrahim Opeyemi Ishola, Samson Shonubi Oluwafemi, Oki Kayode Oluwadunsi, Durosamo Temitope Dickson, Akinremi Ridwan Abiodun, Ahmed Ogunyele and Olawore Ridwan Olalekan.

Oyo Govt To Build Housing Estates In Ogbomoso, Saki, 3 Others

  Oyo State government has announced plans to build modern estates in five federal constituencies in the state. The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, Barrister Bayo Lawal, stated this during the presentation of an Award of Excellence to him at the Corporation’s Headquarters, Bodija Ibadan, by Prime Media, a group composed of reputable journalists. While speaking with the group, Lawal stated that the five estates would be situated in Ogbomoso, Saki, Iseyin, Eruwa and Kishi. He said the project, which is in line with the developmental agenda of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, will kick off in the year 2022, adding that the projects will drive development in the proposed areas.

  The Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Asheik Ashafa Sanusi, is dead. The Muslim cleric passed away in the early hours of today, A source said. Asheik Ashafa became chief Imam of Ogbomosoland  on 2nd of June 2002. Asheik Alamal Yekeen Ashafa Adegboyega Sanusi (adamalahu ayatahu) is in his late 80’s. His janaza will hold by 4:00 pm today at Ogbomoso central mosque.
