Oyo Sanctions 80 For Violating Environmental Law

  About 80 persons have been arrested during the week in Ibadan by the State’s Environmental Task Force for violating the environmental laws. This was revealed by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni who revealed that the Task Team apprehended offenders at Gate, Aleshinloye, Eleyele, Sabo, Apata, Iwo-road, Ojoo, Moniya, U.I-Agbowo, Sango and General Gas areas in Ibadan. In their separate judgements, Chairmen of the State’s Environmental Protection Tribunal, Barr. Saheed Ganiyu and Barr. Kunle Abimbola disclosed that the eighty persons were caught dumping refuse in unauthorized places, hence they are guilty of violating the environmental laws of the state. Oyo Govt Tasks New Businesses on Tax Payment

  Oyo State Government has urged new businesses in the State to help it boost its revenue by paying their taxes, as at when due. The commissioner for Information, Culture and tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun stated this over the weekend during the launch of new businesses in Ibadan. 21 Inmates To Write 2021 NECO Exam In Oyo Custodial Centre – Official

    The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Oyo State Command, says no fewer than 21 inmates in Oyo Custodial Centre, Agodi, Ibadan will be participating in the 2021 National Examination Council (NECO). The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSC Anjorin Olanrewaju, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Ibadan. Olanrewaju said the participating students whose first subject would be Agricultural Practical in the 2021 NECO were already in examination mood. According to Olanrewaju, the Controller of Corrections in Oyo State, Ailewon Noel, encouraged the 21 students to study hard, avoid panicking throughout the examination period and wished them the best in their papers. LAUTECH: Oyo Govt Set to Pay N1b to Osun

Governor Seyi Makinde-led-government is set to pay Osun State Government another 1billion naira on or before the first week of December to make a total of two billion naira out of the 8billion naira contained in the asset sharing agreement over Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). The Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Deji Omole who stated this on Sunday, also revealed that the state government has released the sum of 500million naira to LAUTECH as a grant for the smooth take-off of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources in Iseyin Campus of the University. Hijab: Crisis Looms in LAUTECH over Alleged Humiliation of Student

  Crisis is currently looming at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso over alleged humiliation of a female Muslim student. According to DAILY POST a female Muslim student whose identity has not been revealed was allegedly humiliated by the Dean of Faculty of Nursing for wearing Hijab (a veil usually worn by female Muslims to cover their head) . The incident according to a video obtained by DAILY POST occurred on Wednesday when the board of Open and Distance Learning Programme addressed the newly admitted nursing students. It was gathered that the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Ajibade Lawal while addressing the students asked one of the students who was wearing a Hijab to leave the class. Oyo Govt Seals 5 Illegal Gaming Centres

  No fewer than five gaming and lottery shops have been sealed up due to failure to get all the required operational licenses, in Oyo State. This was during an enforcement exercise embarked upon by the Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board, today, as the Board also warned  operators to desist from illegal operation in the state or face the full wrath of the law. Goving the warning, the Director General, Oyo State Gaming Board, Mr Olajide Boladuro advised gaming operators to make sure they obtain licence and necessary documents before embarkinh on any operation to forestall embarrassment, locking and sealing of their business premises. Man, 35, Allegedly Defiles 12-Year-Old on Errand in Oyo

  An Iyaganku Family Court sitting in Ibadan, on Monday, ordered the remand of one Lukumon Azeez, 35, for alleged defilement of a 12-year-old. Azeez, of  Alubiagba Compound, Ayetoro-Oke, in Oyo State,  is charged on one count of defilement. The Chief Magistrate, Mr S. H . Adebisi, who did not take the plea of the defendant due to lack of jurisdiction, ordered that he should be kept at Abolongo correctional facility in Oyo Town. Adebisi ordered that the defendant should be remanded pending the advice of Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). He adjourned the case until November 29 for mention.
