Oyo state deputy governor, Bayo Lawal has proffered that peaceful co-existence is the solution to interstate boundary dispute among affected communities. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has ended its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting with a resolution not to embark on another strike action. The union, however, condemned attempt by the federal government to turn the academics into casual workers through the so-called ‘pro-rata’ payment for 18 days. In a press statement on Tuesday after the end of the NEC meeting, the ASUU national president, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, noted that the University teachers are intellectuals and not casual workers. He said the Union suspended its eight-month strike on October 14, 2022 in obedience to the order of the National Industrial Court and in further consideration of intervention efforts of well-meaning Nigerians, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. The sale of assets forfeited to the Federal Government has started under the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto, Katsina, Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Cross River, Delta, and Rivers have been named as beneficiaries. Others are: Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Borno, Bauchi, and Gombe states. ICPC Chairman, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, made the disclosure in Abuja. The agency said the move to auctioneer is in line with the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act (POCA), signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, on May 12, 2022. The spokesperson for the organisation, Azuka Ogugua, in a statement, on Monday, also announced the commencement of Phase 5 of the Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise. The new phase, according to her, would involve 712 government-funded projects, beginning from November 8 in 20 states and cutting across the six geopolitical zones.

    The Oyo State Government has kick-started the equipping of the three-hundred and fifty-one (351) Primary Healthcare Centres in the State, with new power generating sets.   During a symbolic presentation of 97 generating sets to some primary healthcare centres, in Ibadan today, the Engineering Technical Lead of PHCs Renovation Committee, Engr. Ademola Aderinto said henceforth PHCs will be powered by an alternative source, whenever there is disruption of power supply by the electricity provider.    Engr.                 Dr. Adeniran Rahmon The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has deployed Adeniran Rahmon, to Oyo State as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC to oversee the 2023 elections in the state. Rahmon, a Ph.D holder, was deployed to the state, to replace the erstwhile REC, Dr. Mutiu Agboke. Recall in July, the President Muhammadu Buhari transmitted the names of 19 nominees as Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission to the Senate for confirmation. This is piteous and sympathetic but nothing can be  done to draw the hand of the clock backward than to succumb to the will of God. Reportedly, more than one-third of the people are lugubriously affected in the aforementioned state. Properties that are worth of humongous amount of money have been dilapidated;  documents, certificates et al of many people would have been washed away by the flood; material possessions like golden necklaces, wristwatches etc would no where to be located. Luxurious mansions owners become an individual of no shelter. I sighed!
