The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to release old N200 notes into circulation to co-exist with new N200, N500 and N1,000 banknotes for 60 days. President Muhammadu Buhari during the National broadcast Ogbomoso Info reports that the President however, said old N500 and N1,000 banknotes are no longer legal tender in Nigeria. The President, who made this known in a nationwide broadcast on Thursday, directed the CBN to allow the new notes available to all citizens. The President apologised to Nigerians over the difficulty experienced in the implementation of the naira redesign policy. “To further ease the supply pressure, particularly on our citizens, I have given approval to the CBN that the old N200 bank notes be released back into circulation and it should also be allowed to circulate as legal tender with the new N200, N500 and N1,000 bank notes for 60 days from February 10, 2023 to April 10, 2023 when the old N200 note ceases to be legal tender,” ...

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State has for the umpteenth time been ranked the best State University in Nigeria. Ogbomoso Info learnt the latest ranking of World Universities by Webometrics, pronounced the the institution as number seven among Nigerian Universities. It also ranked the Ogbomoso-based tertiary institution number one among Universities of Technology. The exercise was premised on three factors: impact rank, openness rank and excellence rank. LAUTECH scored 1779, 1302 and 2902 in the highlighted factors. In the meantime, the analysis of the ranking has indicated that no Nigerian University made it to the first 1000 in the world.

The Council of State has thrown its weight behind the Naira Redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with an advice for the apex bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, to make new Naira notes available or recirculate old banknotes to ease the suffering of Nigerians. Speaking with State House correspondents after at the end of the Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, February 10, Governors of Taraba and Lagos States, Darius Ishaku Lagos and Babajide Sanwo-Olu respectively, alongside the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, said generally the policy was accepted by members of the Council but concerns were raised about its implementation.
