Wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, in the early hours of Sunday, welcomed and presented gifts items to the first babies of the year in four state-owned hospitals, namely Oluyoro Hospital, Adeoyo Teaching Hospital, Yemetu, Oni and Sons, Ring road and Adeoyo State hospital, Ring road.
In all the health facilities visited by the wife of the governor and her team, hampers and Cash gifts were presented to beneficiaries.
She was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Kafilat Olayiwola.
At the Adeoyo Hospital, Ring road, the commissioner welcomed the first baby, a female who weighed 3kg, who was delivered at 2. 50am by Mrs Itunu Sonade.
Another baby, a female who weighed 3.4kg was delivered at 3 a.m by the family of Olusegun Dada at the Oluyoro hospital, Oke ofa.
Also baby Adeoye, a male who weighed 3kg was delivered by Mrs Adeola Adeoye at 4.22am at Adeoyo hospital Yemetu.
Welcoming the baby on behalf of the wife of the state governor, the commissioner for Women Affairs, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola said the event was a symbolic one, adding that mothers and babies were doing well in most of the places visited.
She also appealed nursing mothers and women in the state to collect their permanent voters cards, (PVCs), urging them to vote in the next general elections.
The mother of the first baby, Itunu Sobande thanked the wife of the governor for putting smiles on their faces in the new year.
The wife of the governor also extended her philanthropic gesture to Oni and Sons hospitals at Ring Road area, where gifts were presented to children in the spirit of the new year celebration.
