LAUTECH announces 14th Combined Convocation Ceremony

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has scheduled its Convocation Ceremonies for 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 between April 15 and 23.

This is the first convocation since Oyo state took sole ownership of the institution.

The Schedule of events for the Ceremonies are as follows:

FRIDAY, APRIL 15, 2022: JUMAT SERVICE Venue: University Mosque Time: 1:00pm-2:30pm.

SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2022: CHURCH SERVICE Venue: University Chapel Time: 8:30am-10:30am.

TUESDAY, APRIL 19, 2022: PRESS CONFERENCE Venue: Council Chamber Time: 11:00am

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 2022: CONVOCATION PLAY/ Venue: Amphitheater Time: 2:00pm.

THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 2022: ALUMNI DAY

Venue: Senate Chamber

Time: 8:00am-4:00pm

RESEARCH FAIR/EXHIBITIONS

Venue: Senate Building Foyer Time: 8:00am-12noon.

FRIDAY, APRIL 22, 2022: ADMISSION TO FIRST DEGREES AND AWARD OF PRIZES

The Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin met the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan to deliberate issues around financial autonomy for States Assembly and local governments. The brief meeting which was held yesterday after a national legislative assignment in Abuja, it’s considered necessary to improve cooperation between the National Assembly (Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives) and the State legislative arm. Joint ownership of the institution by Oyo and Osun states has culminated into protracted crises in the institution, which has had telling effects on the students, the staff and its rating as the best state university in Nigeria as well as the relationship between the owner states. Thus, the taking over of the institution by the Oyo State Government is applauded by all and sundry as a pragmatic way of engendering peace. However, the report credited to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde that the institution would be run as a multi-campus is sad news for all Ogbomoso indigenes as well as lovers of justice.
