Retired Senior Police officer, Vibrant Politican, Philanthropist, Ex-Govenor of Oyo
Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala is a Nigerian politician and the former Governor of Oyo State, Nigeria. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He started his early career as a police officer. Alao-Akala was Born on June 3, 1950, at Ogbomoso in the Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He attended Osupa Baptist Day School, Ogbomoso for his Primary school certificate, kamina Barracks middle School, 5 th Battalions of infantry & Government Technical College, Tamale, Nothern Region in Ghana, Ogbomoso High School (WAEC 1972)
He worked as a Classroom Teacher at Baptist Day Modern School, Ogbomoso.
Chief Alao-Akala joined the Nigeria Police as Cadet Inspector and rose to the position of assistant Commissioner of Police [ACP] 1974 – 1995
Otunba (Dr) Adebayo Alao-Akala started his political career as a member of New Dimension, a political association of progressive young elements. He participated in the zero-party local government election of 1996 and later co-founded the UNP before its fusion with UNC to form UNCP. He participated in the Ogbomoso Federal Constituency (One) primary election of the UNCP in 1997. He contested and won the chairmanship seat of the Ogbomoso North Local Government along with seven councilors under the platform of APP in 1998. He was elected vice-chairman of ALGON, Oyo State Chapter between 1999 and 2002. Alao-Akala founded the Ogbomoso Unity Forum, a political association which later joined the PDP. He was the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government from 1999 to 2002.
Alao-Akala became the Deputy Governor of Oyo State from May 2003 to January 2006. Christopher Alao-Akala was Governor (de facto) from 12 January 2006 to 7 December 2006 when Senator Rasheed Ladoja was impeached, until the impeachment was overturned by the Apex court in Nigeria.
He became the Executive governor of Oyo state, from May 29, 2007 till May 29, 2011.
Otunba (Dr) Adebayo Alao-Akala established Lautech University Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, He build a world-class Lautech College of Health Sciences in Ogbomoso. The ‘Oyato’ Governor has popularly called also take a bold step to acquire sole ownership for Lautech. A step which Osun state government opposed.
He also resuscitates the BCOS Transmission station in Gambari, Ogbomoso and name it Ajilete FM.
On 8 December 2014, Otunba (Dr) Adebayo Alao-Akala deflected to the Labour Party in Oyo State due to internal irregularities in his former party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). On 10 December 2014, he formally declared his intention to re-contest the gubernatorial election of Oyo State on the platform of the Labour Party in the February 2015 general elections in Nigeria. During his declaration of intent, all other party gubernatorial aspirants stepped down for him, thereby making him emerge as the Labour Party’s gubernatorial flag bearer in Oyo State. On 16th December 2017, he formally deflected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a huge ceremony in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.
In 2019, he defected to Action Democratic Party (ADP) to pick the gubernatorial ticket but later rejoined the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the build up to the general elections.
Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala is a polyglot. He speaks English, Yoruba, Hausa, (Twi, Fanti and Dagbani) Languages fluently.
He is happily married and bless with children and grandchildren.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
