EndSARS: Makinde Enjoins Protesters to Shun Violence

 




The Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has appealed to the residents and citizens of the state, especially the youths to eschew violence and be civil in the course of their protests.


Governor Makinde gave the admonition this Wednesday, shortly after some of the Lagos state government’s properties were vandalized and a popular TV station was burnt into ashes.


Governor Makinde while addressing the protesters at Bashorun area of Ibadan, assured them of timely consideration and feedback on their requests but urged them not to break down law and order.


According to Noble FM’s correspondent, Micheal Oladejo, Governor Makinde who was on his a way to his house at Akobo in Ibadan, stopped his convoy to address the protesters.


While commending governor Seyi Makinde on how he managed the #EndSARS protests in Oyo state, the protesters enjoined the governor to closely monitor the operations of the just deployed operation burst in major areas of the state, so so to prevent the occurrence of bloodbath witnessed at Lekki Tollgate in the state.


In a similar vein, Peace is gradually returning to the city of Ibadan as some of the areas in the metropolis were calm, following the deployment of the operatives of Operation Burst to various hotspots within the state capital, hours after the #EndSARS protest turned bloody in Ibadan.


Situations around New-Garage, Challenge, Molete, Idi-Arere, Oja’ba, Oje, and Total-garden, observed that the #EndSARS protests have been relaxed, while personnel of the Operation Burst were on patrol to ensure peace and normalcy within the city.


Although, ashes of burnt tires, dry gin sachets, scraps of bottles, and other refuse littered the roads, yet, people were going about their businesses without any hindrance, unlike a few days ago when the #EndSARS protesters blocked Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogbomoso-Ilorin Highway, Challenge, New-Garage, Sango, Mokola, Secretariat road and other major streets, a development that brought about untold hardship on the residents of the state and their businesses.



You would recall that Governor Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday, deployed members of the operation burst to various flash points in Ibadan to protect genuine protesters and their right to protest while they also prevent hoodlums from hijacking peaceful protests in Oyo state.
