Makinde Appoints Former Commissioner, ex-Oyo NLC chair, Abdulazeez as Board chairman, Aides

 




Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of a former Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Oribayo Okeyode and the immediate past chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and retired Permanent Secretary, Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo as chairman of the Oyo State Library Board and Special Adviser (Labour Affairs) respectively.

The governor equally appointed the National Missioner/Chief Imam of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Alhaji (Imam) Abdulazeez Rasheed Adewale as his Special Assistant on Islamic Affairs.

A statement by the Special Assistant (Print Media) to Governor Seyi Makinde, Moses Alao, announced the appointments on Wednesday.

The trio, in the respective appointment letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, were charged to discharge their duties with absolute loyalty, dedication and diligence.

The appointments, the letters dated 19th October 2020 stated, are with immediate effect.

Chief Okeyode had previously served as Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Survey as well as Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Local Government Matters under the administration of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja. He had also served as Chairman, Lagelu Local Government.

The newly appointed Special Adviser on Labour Relations, Titilola-Sodo, is the immediate past chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) as well as the immediate past president of the state’s chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).

He retired from the Oyo State Civil Service as Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pensions Board.

Titilola-Sodo holds a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Local Government Administration and a Masters in Business Administration from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

He attended the Lead City University for an LLB in Law and the Nigerian Law School, Abuja for his BL.

Alhaji Imam Abdulazeez, the newly appointed Special Assistant to the Governor on Islamic Affairs is a graduate of Islamic Studies (Education) from the University of Ado Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) and University of Ibadan (MULCOED).

He is the current Head of Islamic Unit of Radio Nigeria, Ibadan.

He was once the Head of Islamic Studies Department at the Mufutau Lanihun College of Education, Ibadan.

Abdulazeez attended the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) for his Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and has attended seminars both within and outside Nigeria on Islam and Africa Development.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
