Vets Lament Shortage in Oyo Civil Service |Ogbomoso Info

 



The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Oyo State branch, has lamented the inadequacy of veterinary doctors in the Oyo State Civil Service.

According to Guardian,The state chairman of NVMA, Dr Dayo Adejuyigbe, stated this during a visit to the leadership of the Oyo State House of Assembly, said the current situation in which only 13 veterinary doctors were in the civil service of Oyo State made Veterinary Services Department unable to perform its many statutory functions efficiently.

The association sought the assistance of the House of Assembly in the area of supporting the executive arm of government to fill many existing vacancies in the Department of Veterinary Services.

The courtesy visit was in recognition of the efforts of the assembly in the area of passing relevant laws capable of transforming all aspects of human development in line with global best practices.

According to the body, the recent passage into law of the Dogs Amendment Bill 2019 into law recently was commendable.

The law, according to NVMA chairman, is capable of enhancing the achievement of a rabies-free society by 2030 in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

He lauded the efforts of Hon. Mrs Bunmi Oladeji, representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency in the Assembly, for her vision and passion, to bridge the public health gap in Oyo State.

The law was last amended in 2000, making it out of sync with contemporary realities.

In his remarks, the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, appreciated the association for recognising the contribution of the assembly to the welfare of the people of the state.

Ogundoyin promised to do more to support the veterinary profession.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
