The Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS), has pronounced Dr Sulaimon Femi Abimbade of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, winner of the 2023 Best PhD Thesis Award in Mathematical Sciences.
Dr Abimbade is a Lecturer II in the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics, where he bagged both his Bachelor and Doctoral degrees.
His research in Applied Mathematics is tangential to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on health and quality education (SDGs 3 & 4).
His thesis titled, "Mathematical assessment of recurrent malaria dynamics with optimal control measures," was centered on the robust application of dynamical systems theories in modelling recurrent malaria transmission under the joint supervision of Dr Samson Oláníyì and Prof. Segun Ajala of the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics.
It is recorded that three scholarly articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, were published from his thesis.
The values of Abimbade's prestigious award include cash prize, certificate, plaque, 3-year free article publications, life membership of NSPS and editorial position.
The award testifies to the exceptional research contributions, academic excellence, and a commitment to the advancement of knowledge that LAUTECH is known for.
