Makinde Presents Staff of Office to New Soun

 


The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday, presented the staff of office and instrument of office to the new Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, Orumogege III.

The ceremony took place at the Soun Township Stadium on Tuesday.

OGBOMOSOINFO recalls that Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye emerged as the new Soun of Ogbomoso on September 2, 2023, when kingmakers led by High Chief Sobaloju Otolorin, announced him as the new monarch.

After receiving the staff of office from Governor Makinde, Oba Ghandi Olaoye expressed gratitude to God and everyone who made the event possible.

Oba Ghandi Olaoye revealed that he sees the new throne as a divine call to serve the people of Ogbomosoland irrespective of their religious beliefs.

He appealed to all sons and daughters of Ogbomoso to collaborate with him in unlocking the potential of the land.

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse III, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, and former minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, among grace the event.

Also present at the event were traditional rulers, government officials, clerics,  captains of industry and others.

The Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
