PHOTOS: O'First Group Empowers Over 100 Indigent People with Equipments Worth N50m

 

Ogbomoso First Community initiative, (O’ First Group) on Saturday empowered over 100 indigent people in Ogbomoso and its environs with equipment worth 50 million naira.

 In their unrelenting efforts to improve the standard of living of the people of Ogbomoso zone and eradicate poverty in the society.

The equipment which includes clippers, motorcycles, grinding machines, electric sewing machines, hair dryer, others were hand over to beneficiaries at the O'first Group center in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Speaking at the event, the President of the group, Sir Olusegun Adekunle stated that the gesture is in line with the group's commitment to giving back to the community and advancing the interests of Ogbomoso land.

He added that the idea is to assist younger people, widows, artisans with equipment and other materials needed to start their business to live meaningfully because the idle hand is devil's workshop.

Adekunle, therefore, enjoined the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment and urged them not to sell it. He stated that the group spent a sum of 50 million naira to purchase the equipment and has set up a monitoring committee that will see that the initiative brings results.

 Otunba Adebayo Babatunde, the immediate past president of the group explained that the gesture is to improve people’s lives through job creation and human development.

In his goodwill message at the event, Engr. Mufutau Open Salawu commended the sons and daughter of the soil, who believes in teaching people how to fish instead of always giving them fish. He urged the beneficiaries to use the equipment for the purpose they are meant.

He further stated that Ogbomoso matters is essential to him and that helping others is essential for societal development.



Beneficiaries of the initiative prayed for the group with the promise to judiciously used the equipments. 





Dignatries at the event includes the Aresapa of Iresaapa, Bishop Moradeyo of Methodist Church, Ogbomoso Diocese, Prof. Adepoju, DG FRIN, Engr. Mufutau Open Salawu, O'first Group members among others.
