The Managing Director of Abadat Motor Limited, Mr Henry Okosun has declared that The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) will not succeed in blackmailing the personality of Senator Buhari Abdulfatai.
Mr Henry stated this in a release titled “Stiff reaction to misinformation from AMCON” issued in Abuja today.
According to him “neither the lawmaker nor Abadat Motors Limited assessed any loan from Guaranty Trust Bank.
What happened was that Abadat, PAN and GTB entered into a tripartite agreement whereby Abadat as a Dealer with PAN will collect a vehicle on credit while GTB will guarantee the credit for a month at 18%. This was what we maintained till 2008″.
He added ” in 2009, we discovered that GTB was clandestinely charging us 30% against the agreed 18%, we requested for our statement but they refused to give us”.
The release revealed that via the intervention of AMCON, Abadat discovered a lot of alleged fowl play through the Forensic Audit that was carried out.
It added that GTB was the one owing Abadat against its claims and the matter has been in Court since 2013 where in AMCON and GTB are still sending their lawyers anytime there is a court sitting.
Mr Henry opined that AMCON and GTB should have been patient enough to allow the court to decide who is owing and who is paying who rather than misinforming the publics on the whole issue with the claims that they are taken possession of Senator Buhari’s properties at Abuja.
While the company still believes in Nigeria Judicial System as capable of addressing the whole issue, Mr Henry disclosed that the company legal team has wade into the matter and surely justice shall prevail.
“What AMCON has done was a blackmail against the Senator and surely our legal team shall take this up with them,” Mr Henry stressed.
In his reaction to the matter, Barrister Ahmed Raji, SAN, who heads Abadat Motors legal team in court declared that it was not correct that AMCON has taken over Senator Buhari’s assets in Abuja.
He affirmed that there is a subsisting suit on the matter since 2013 and no judgement has been rendered.
Barrister Raji hinted that self help is not allowed just as suppression of facts is deprecated in the judicial system.
The legal icon assured that shortly court will reaffirm its sacred authority over all persons and authorities while added “we are all under the law”!
