CVR: INEC Registers 19,135 Persons in Oyo

About Nineteen Thousand, One Hundred and Thirty-five people (19,135) have reportedly completed their registration in Oyo State as part of the nationwide continuous voter registration exercise which is in its first phase in the State.

This was made known by Barr. Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, as he said that the exercise has been suspended temporarily and is to resume on October 3.

Agboke said the suspension became necessary to give time for complaints and other corrections that may come as a result of the registration exercise which cuts across the 33 Local Government Areas of the State.

Also, within the period, INEC will publish the register of voters for public scrutiny.

Explaining further, Agboke said that publishing the register of voters is to allow citizens to assist the commission in identifying ineligible registrants as well as clean up the register and add fresh registrants to the register before printing their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

He encouraged every indigene of Oyo State to help the commission identify deceased persons, foreigners, Nigerians below the voting age as well as multiple registrants on the voters register so that the commission can put its records straight.

Meanwhile, the 19, 135 prospective voters that have registered, completed both online and physical registration out of the initial 72,644 who registered during the online pre-registration exercise which began, June 28, 2021.
