Ex-Lawmaker, 6 Others Arraigned Over Alleged Murder Threats, Forgery In Ogbomoso

The Oyo State Police Command has arraigned seven men before a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogbomoso for offences bordering on conspiracy, forgery, publication of false documents and threats to murder a traditional chieftain.

The accused, Chief Wojuade Ademola (92); Wojuade Gbeniga (52); Wojuade Philip (45); Bello Opeyemi (33); Eyolade Adewumi (26); Adeniyi Idowu (39) and Dr Folaranmi Oyebamiji (55) were arraigned on Tuesday before Chief Magistrate Muideen Salami.

The charges read in part, “That you, Chief Mathew Wojuade Ademola, and others at large, in January 2020 at Oko area of Ogbomoso, conspired and unlawfully forged signatures on letters and other documents written with the letterhead of Oba Oladunmoye Adaramola Oyenubi, dated May 29, 2011, purportedly confirming the title of Elejumo of Oko Land on Wojuade Mathew Ademola and knowing it to be false and with intent that it may be used or in any way acted upon as genuine.

“That you, Wojuade Gbemiga, Wojuade Phillip, Bello Opeyemi, Eyolade Joshua and Dr Folaranmi Oyebamiji, on the same date and time with intent to cause fear and hatred, unlawfully published defamatory and false news on Facebook that one Chief Solomon Ojedayo was a mad man, a bastard who was not born by his father and also that Chief Solomon Ojedayo did money rituals and will surely meet his Waterloo soonest.”

The police prosecutor, M.A. Ojei, said the offences were contrary to and punishable under sections 516, 467, 59, 323 of the Criminal Code Cap. 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges as their counsel, I.H. Adigun, made an oral application for bail in liberal terms.

The chief magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above.
