Buhari Nominates Aishah Ahmed, Edward Adams As CBN Deputy Govs

President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded the names of Aishah Ahmed and Edward Adamu to the Senate for confirmation as deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Buhari’s request was contained in a letter read on the floor of the Senate during the Tuesday plenary.

The President asked the Senate to confirm the nominees to serve for a second and final term at the Nigeria apex bank as deputy governors.

As stated by the CBN, Aishah was first appointed as the CBN Deputy Governor in 2018. As part of her role, she was in charge of Financial System Stability, she was also responsible for leading the effort to promote a sound financial system in Nigeria; one of the principal objects of the Bank as specified within the CBN Act.

Before her appointment to the CBN Deputy Governorship role, she was the Executive Director of Retail Banking at Diamond Bank Plc and has 22 years experience as a Corporate Executive and Finance Expert.

Mr. Adamu on the other hand is a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello Unversity, Zaria, Kaduna State where he bagged a BSc degree in Quantity Surveying. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Institute of Credit Administration.

He was first appointed to the CBN Deputy Governorship role in 2018 but began his career with the Unified Public Service (UPS) in 1983. He has spent 25 years with the apex bank.

In another letter, President Buhari also asked the Upper Chamber to confirm the appointment of Ambassador Ayuba Jacob as a member of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above.
