Chibok Girls: Group Tasks Buhari on SchoolGirls' Release



The #BringBackOurGirls campaigners have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the release of the 96 rremainingsmissing Chibok schoolgirls before the end of his tenure.

The group made the demand in a press statement issued on Friday morning to commemorate the ninth year since the abduction of 276 schoolgirls from the Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State on April 14, 2014.

The statement revealed that according to a status report of October 2022, of the 276 abducted schoolgirls, 57 had escaped, 107 were released, 16 of them were rescued by the military, and 96 remained missing.

The group also demanded accountability from the Borno State Government, noting that after a military operation to rescue 12 of the girls in the last two years, they were yet to be reunited with their families.

They further noted that the rescue and rehabilitation of the girls, alongside Leah Sharibu, and other victims of insurgency, will remain an undeniable legacy of the Buhari-led administration.
