The lawmaker representing Zaria Federal Constituency, Tajudeen Abbas, has emerged as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
With 353 votes, Abbas defeated Ahmed Idris Wase, the former Deputy Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, and Aminu Sani Jaji, who polled three votes each.
it was gathered that the votes that the two men got were from themselves and the lawmakers that nominated them.
Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, the outgoing Majority Leader of the House, had nominated Abbas as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives. This motion was seconded by Nnolim Nnaji.
