‘Oju-Odo Apake’ is still sadly a dead trap in spite of the enthusiastic and patriotic efforts of some indigenes through publicity. It is a fact that couple of accident that have claimed lives of the residents and travellers happened around that portion.
The vast drama angle, No more long convoys of siren-blaring vehicles in breakneck speeds heading in right, left, centre and opposite directions; large gatherings of party peoples here and there about the city and almost at the same time promises as they do across loud speakers, jingles ” Ona baba ona (good roads)”. Edibo fun wa(vote for us) for goodies. Large banners larger than life banners of seekers after the target seat in open spaces, posters on fences, street sides, at very spots, political music and ewi.
However, there is a long line and fence between the political/elected leaders and followers once elected into office. They live in another country within the same country, chants ”We are set to begin, about to inaugurate, to start”, Oga is sleeping e.t.c.
It is not an overstatement to say that the political class have quite often betrayed awareness of the needs of the citizenry especially in terms of capital projects, livelihood and empowerment, there are also such needs which residents from one community to another in Ogbomoso Zone, seem to seek the state, federal government’s urgent intervention.
These includes motorable access roads in the communities; electricity power supply; provision of good drinking water; for instance the Ogbomoso water works that is moribund needs resuscitation, protection of lives and properties. Distribution of 2 Cup of Gaari to party loyalists is not a developmental politics.
The Ogbomoso-Ilorin road is now a dead trap which the political leaders routine neglect and pretend. But again, the ‘Oju-Odo Apake’ portion of the road, the issue is not entirely how quick will expectations be met, but even how far will remedies when offered would also last?
There is a time appointed for everything under sun. Time to campaign and time to deliver campaign promises and more. Where is Senator Ayantayo Ayandele? to provide solution for ‘Oju-Odo Apake’ Ogbomoso, Charity begins at home not abroad.
