Why People Call Me Oyato Governor – Alao-Akala |Ogbomoso Info

Former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has disclosed how he got the nickname Oyato Governor and ATM while in Office.
The ex-governor had earned alot of respect around the world, when people hear the name ‘’ATM”, they would pause a little to place a face to it; but when you say ‘Oyato Governor’, there’s no pausing and thinking.
Speaking recently on ‘our guest’ a City People TV Instagram Live Chat with City People Publisher Seye Kehinde, Alao-Akala gave account of how he earned “Oyato”.
Otun of the Source maintained that why people are calling him Oyato Governor is simple. Alao-Akala said “When I became Governor, I had a vision and the vision was to transform Oyo State, to do something different from what I met on ground. There were lots of changes.
“We physically showed it to the world there were changes and when they saw it that there was really a change, they started calling me “Oyato” That was not the only name they called me, when I was in power”. Alao-Akala stated.
Otunba Alao-Akala added that “they also called me ATM, why because all they need to do is to put pin in my mouth for me to bring money out. And one thing about me is that I know how to make money available for people.”
He stated that the money came down to the grassroots during his time as governor of Oyo state.
” You don’t need to see Akala before you get money that time. We all got money from the government. You know the government is the biggest spender. If the government spends money wisely, it will get to the people, Alao-Akala said.
The former number citizen of Oyo state stated that he was spending the money made available for him at that time and he made sure it got to the grassroots. So everybody was seeing and feeling how the government was spending the money.
“I coughed out a lot of money into the system. Lots of people enjoyed their businesses. That was what happened. You don’t need to see Akala before you get money and because the money was available to them they started calling me Akala ATM.” Alao-Akala added.
