Rev Okesiji laid to rest in Ogbomoso

 


Tributes and commendations flowed on Friday as the remains of Pa Rev Okesiji were laid to rest at the premises of First Baptist Church,Okelerin,Ogbomoso.


He was accorded full honours as the President of Nigerian Baptist Convention and CAN, Rev Dr Supo Ayokunle paid tribute.


In his remark, Dr Ayokunle described Pa Okesiji as a Reverend who was committed to the gospel ministry and the Nigerian Baptist Convention, as his contributions to ministry, capacity development, mentorship speaks volume.He urges ministers of the gospel to use his model in ministry.


Revd Okesiji was born on Sunday, August 19, 1928 in Okeho, Oyo State and he was an ordained minister of the gospel who did exploits as a Baptist Pastor and made laudable contributions to the Nigerian Baptist Convention at large. 

He pastored First Baptist Church, Okelerin, Ogbomoso for 30 years. The Reverend Gentleman took over the pastorate of the First Baptist Church, Okelerin, Ogbomoso from January 1968 to December 1998. To the glory of God, he had a fulfilling ministry while in the church.




Former President of Ogbomoso Baptist Conference,Rev Dr Isreal Olaniyan; Former  Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, Baptist ministers, among others and the family members of the deceased were also in attendance to pay their last respects.


He died peacefully on Sunday, 5th July 2020.

The Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
