A year after his appointment as Minister of Youth and Sports development by President Muhammadu Buhari, Ogbomoso born, Sunday Akin Dare has been named the third best performing minister in the country.
The former special adviser (media) to former Lagos state governor, Ahmed Bola Tinubu was sworn-in on August 21, 2019 as the minister of Youth and Sports development.
In an interim scorecard released by Transparency watch, Dare who is also a veteran journalist came third behind the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Saddiya Farouq and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
His emergence as one of the top three most performing ministers is quite surprising because the Ministry of Youth and Sport has one of lowest budget in the country.
Among the top three ministries, the ministry of transportation gets 560 billion as yearly budgetary allocation while the ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development is on 420 billion naira budgetary allocation yearly.
