Ajaawa: Youths Attack Policemen To Evade Arrest Of Suspects - Oyo Police Commissioner

 


The Oyo State Police Command has raised the alarm that some youths are attacking some of their officers to evade arrest.

State Police Commissioner Ngozi Onadeko made this disclosure on Wednesday.

Onadeko, in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, observed with grave dismay the unnecessary aggression and hostility towards the officers and men of the command force by the thugs in the performance of their legitimate duties.

Osifeso, in the statement made available to Newmen on Wednesday, noted that some youths have been attacking police officers in connection with arresting criminals in some areas of the state.

The police alleged that some young men on Tuesday, June 28 attacked some policemen in Ajaawa in the local government area of ​​Ogo Oluwa in the state.

Police also claimed that a team of police investigators was attacked on May 27 by angry youth.

However, the command recommended that parents warn their children against further attacks on the police.

“On Tuesday, June 28, 2021, agents of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit attached to the FCIID while conducting legal investigation activities in Ajaawa, Ogo-oluwa LGA Oyo State, were attacked by a group of disgruntled youth in an attempt to help evade arrest.

“On Thursday, May 27, 2021, and IRT / FIB team in investigative activities was also attacked by disgruntled youths and thugs, who mobilized en masse to unleash chaos on officers and strip them of valuables.

“The intervention of the Command reinforcement team played to the rescue of the officers and the recovery of their lost possessions.

“The Police Commissioner wishes to use this medium to urge parents, guardians and all who are at the height of social influence to strongly warn their wards against the use of criminals to scuttle the relative tranquillity that is enjoyed in the state.

“While reaffirming the guarantees of the Command to continuously provide comprehensive security to the good people of the State, the Police Commissioner wishes to state that the Command will not cross hands in docile astonishment while destroying lives and property as strong sanctions according to the best Standard practices would be imposed on any person or group (s) of people who through their actions or inactions violate the public peace at any point and place in the state.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above.
