Oyo Govt Inaugurates Committee To Take Record of Collapsed Bridges, Failing Public Structures |OGBOMOSO INFO|





Oyo State government has inaugurated a committee to urgently take inventory of collapsed bridges and failing public structures otherwise called ‘State Hydraulic Structures’ for immediate intervention.

The Committee which consisted of eight Engineers, drawn from all zones of the State as Engr. Aderoju A.A, the team leader, Engr. Fadare O.F for Ibadan-Iseyin, Engr. Ogunkoya O.O, Saki-Oke-Ogun zone and Engr. Ola B.O for Ogbomoso-Oyo zone.

Also among the committee members are Engr. Salako A.O for Ibadan-Ibarapa zone, Engr. Akinrinola M.O for Ogbomoso-Oyo zone, Engr. Aleilo T.D for Ibadan-Ibarapa zone and Engr. Aremu K.O also for Ibadan-Ibarapa zone.

The team which was inaugurated by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Raphael Afonja on behalf of the State Government on Thursday hinted that the committee was to take inventory of State hydraulics structures and bridges in their respective zones and to also make necessary recommendations for government intervention on structures in need of such.

“The team whose members are drawn from various zones in the State is to make quarterly submission of the inventory taken, which comprises of the present state of the structure with recommendations of the necessary intervention by the government, the situation report of any structure requiring swift response should, however, not be delayed till the end of the quarterly submission from them.

“We need to be proactive and not reactive, there have been situations of communities being cut off from the rest of the State as a result of bridge collapse or bad roads, and we want to prevent that from continuing,” he added.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
