After 12 Years, LAUTECH student elected Oyo NANS Chairman |Ogbomoso Info

Comrade Opakunle Oluwafunmibi is the new Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Oyo state axis.

His emergence was announced on Saturday, following the conclusion of elections.

Opakunle, a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso polled 12 out of the sum of 17 votes cast to emerged as the number one student in Oyo State.

Until yesterday, 11th of July, 2020, the post of the Chairman of the prestigious student body in Oyo Axis has always been rotated amongst several other universities and polytechnics in the axis since 2008 when the first and last Ladokite; Elodyper was elected as the Chairman.

Adebo Ogundoyin met the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan to deliberate issues around financial autonomy for States Assembly and local governments. Joint ownership of the institution by Oyo and Osun states has culminated into protracted crises in the institution, which has had telling effects on the students, the staff and its rating as the best state university in Nigeria as well as the relationship between the owner states. Thus, the taking over of the institution by the Oyo State Government is applauded by all and sundry as a pragmatic way of engendering peace.
