Oyo State Police Command has urged stakeholders and politicians to embrace peace as the 2023 general elections are fast-approaching.
The Oyo State Police Commissioner, Adebowale Williams, at weekend, called on political stakeholders in the state to embrace peace and shun acts capable of truncating peace and tranquility in the state.
CP Williams made the call at a Security Sensitization and Awareness meeting with Political Stakeholders in the state ahead of the electioneering campaign period for the 2023 general elections.
According to a statement by the Oyo state police command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso, CP Williams disclosed that adequate measures are in place by the Oyo state Police command towards the realization of a hitch-free campaign period.
The Commissioner of Police noted that part of the measures included regular high octane patrols across the length and breadth of the state, intelligence led stop and search and technological aided surveillance .
The CP added that Oyo State Police Command has formed a special crowd control unit to cater to cases of crowd management before, during and after the campaigns.
He however tasked parents, guardians and community leaders o prevail on their children, wards and proteges so as to avoid being used as cannon fodders by agents of mischief to disrupt the polity, as heavy sanctions awaits violators in accordance with the laws and statues of the land.
