Makinde Condemn Attack, Burning Of OYRTMA Operational Vehicle |OGBOMOSO INFO|



Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has condemned in strong terms the attacks and burning of operational vehicle of the State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) at Akinyele area, Ibadan, Friday.
The governor’s reaction followed the report he received on the development by the chairman of the agency Mogaji (Dr) Akin Fagbemi.
According to Mogaji Fagbemi, the ugly development occurred when his men went to Akinyele trailer park to ensure sanity and compliance by trailer drivers who park indiscriminately along the road in order to obey the directive of government that they should park in the park provided for them in the area.
He said while his men were trying to discharge their duty, these unscrupulous elements came to attack them suddenly.
“The drivers, some artisans, and traders suddenly descended on my men, attacked them and set our operational vehicle on fire.
“These trailer drivers are so heady, they don’t comply with government directives,  they park indiscriminately on these roads, a situation that can cause an accident and lose of lives. Some of our men who are seriously injured are in the hospital receiving treatment. The scenario is a bad omen for our society,” he added.
The chairman who described the act as very terrible and barbaric said investigation on the development has commenced adding that some suspects in connection to the crime have been arrested.
He gave the name of the suspect who spearheaded the attack and burning of the agency vehicle as Wasiu Yaqub aka Legelege,  Mrs. Sikira Wasiu aka Iya Iaje, Alaga Olu, while others are at large.
Dr Fagbemi said governor Makinde has replaced the burnt vehicle with two operational vans, describing the gesture as very encouraging.
He assured that the government would get to the root of the matter and bring the culprits to book, adding that those who were injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
