In order to assist the SMEs to increase their wealth and production, Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), has conduct intensive training for Nasme Oyo State chapter (Ogbomoso Branch) members, in collaboration with Nasme Lagos chapter, the training which involves business experts, start-ups and people in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to access Agric-Business/Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS)-Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) loan. The training was conducted at the LAUTECH Staff Premier CICS Ltd building in Ogbomoso.
As part of requirements to access the loan, applicants need to be trained by a certified and accredited Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI) Training Institute.
This allows them to get certificates issued by the Training Institute which is one of the CBN requirements for the loan.
The initiative is to support the Federal Government’s efforts and policy measures for the promotion of Agricultural Businesses, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as vehicles for sustainable economic development and employment generation.
Activities of the initiative covers businesses across the agricultural value chain covering inputs supply, production, storage, processing, logistics and marketing, among others. Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) is one of the accredited EDI licensed by CBN,where applicants are currently being trained on how to be sure of getting the loan in a quick process.
The Chairman of the association in Oyo state, Mr Kalimu Oyetunji, said “The loan is meant for MSME, comprising agric, manufacturing and production, other services, which involves those already in business and start-ups. In the student category, there are students who are enterprising”
He said the association is determined to empower agricultural SMEs and other business to enhance access to suitable financial services to its members – particularly smallholders – and as a way to increase SMEs productivity and income.He also stated some of the benefit that members gain from the association includes financial and technical support from the goverment agencies such as Bank of Industry (BOI), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and others.
Oyetunji also stated that NASME is a business membership organization (BMO) established to promote members businesses and to make sure that members businesses are flourishing. "We capture all legitimate business, Production, Manufacturing, Services any business that you are doing that is legitimate"
He further explained that the association's membership is open to anybody that operates a legitimate business, that is registered with the corporate affairs commission (CAC).
Also Speaking the Project coordinator of NASME Ogbomoso Unit, Mr Fajuyi Amuzat who is into agric business and value chain use the medium to call on entrepreneurs from Ogbomoso to join the association because of the incentives and benefits they can derive. In his words of the CEO, Fajustic Farms, Ogbomoso" we are calling entrepreneurs from Ogbomoso to join NASME, Ogbomoso are entrepreneurs, wherever you are get into this association. The Executive committee members (EXCO) of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) are Mr Okunlola Joel Alabi as Chairman, Dr. Oladeji James. O as Vice-Chairman, Mr Bisi Popoola is the Secretary, Mr Ajadi Olusegun Adewole as Assistant General Secretary.
Others are Mr Adeniran Adebayo as PRO, Mr Alagbe Rafiu is the Chief Whip, Mr Oladeji Bayo as Financial Secretary, and Mr Ogunlade Jonathan as Treasurer.
