Onpetu Leads Celebration Of Odun Oba Festival Amidst Prayers, Praise And Worship |OGBOMOSO INFO|





The Onpetu Of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Oyediran, Lagbami Osekun 111 led the ijeru kingdom on friday to celebrate the 2020 Odun Oba festival (formerly Odoje festival) with prayers, praise and worship. This year is 180th edition of the festival. The Odun Oba festival was a traditional event that is remarkable because it was celebrated in a Christian way.

The festival was a medium to showcase the rich culture blended with Christianity in Ijeru kingdom, Ogbomoso south, Oyo state.

The 2020 Odun Oba festival held on friday in Orile Oje, with the Onpetu wearing the “Aare crown” couple with the power of God to prayer for people who graced the festival, which has become yearly holy pilgrimage in the kingdom.The monarch used the occasion to offer prayers in the name of Jesus for people, Ijeru Kingdom, Oyo state and Nigeria and also offer praise and worship to the king of kings on the altar of praise.

Indeed, thousands of relatives, well-wishers and princes and princesses of Ijeru Kingdom from various communities in Nigeria and Diaspora stormed their root to celebrate the festival with the Onpetu.


In his words, Oba Oyediran urges the sons and daughters of Ijeru Kingdom ' the Tokulojes'  to be united in order to move the kingdom forward and bring meaningful development to their land.


The Hunters were on  ground to add traditional colour to the festival with loads of  gun salute.

Dignitaries at the festival includes, the wife of former Oyo state Governor, Chief (Mrs) Kemi Alao-Akala, CAN Representatives from Ogbomoso Zone, Aale of Oke-Elerin, Oba Samuel Babatunde Amao, Alaipo of Aipo, Oba Ajadi, Alarolu of Arolu, Oba Adedeji, Oloo of Olo ,Majority Leader, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sanjo Adedoyin, Hon Jacob Bamigboye, member representing Orire State Constituency, Minority Leader,Hon Asimiyu Alarape, Hon Simeon Oyeleke,member representing Ogo-Oluwa State Constituency.

Others are Chairman,Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon Timothy Oyeniyi Oyedokun, Chairman, Ogbomoso South West LCDA, Hon Damilare Amusan, Chairman, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Hon Seun Ojo, Chairman, Surulere Local Government, Hon. Isaiah Adegbite, Former Chairman, Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon. Sunday Adedeji, Hon. Ezekiel Oyedepo, Rev Dr. Deji Adisa, Onitapa of Atapa among others.

The Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin met the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan to deliberate issues around financial autonomy for States Assembly and local governments.
