Oyo Unity Cup: Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Win |OGBOMOSO INFO|










The pioneer Oyo Unity Cup, which is the brainchild of the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare with the aim of discovering young talents in football for national and international exports, has ended at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Ogo Oluwa/Surelere Constituency of Ogbomoso zone won the Oyo Unity Cup,as the team defeated Ibarapa by a lone goal with Olalekan Oyetunde named the best player of the tournament.
The highest goal scorer award of the tournament went to Friday Michael from Ogo-oluwa/Surelere Federal Constituency and the fair play award went to Ibadan North Federal Constituency. Best goal keeper of the tournament was Yusuf Adewale from Nigerian Union of Journalists team.






Speaking at the event, the minister thanked all who contributed to the success of the maiden event and said it signals more good things to come in Nigerian sports.

“It’s never too late, we have started and we will keep improving on Unity Cups across the federation to ensure this goes across different states to enable us to catch young talents,” Dare said.
“Some of the talents that were discovered are indeed skillful; I am impressed with what I have seen and this has spurred me to do more knowing that there are lots of talents undiscovered across the country.”
Fans were also thrilled to catch glimpses of some of their favourite ex-internationals including Daniel Amokachi; new assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo; Mutiu Adepoju, and Ike Shorunmu.
Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, former Super Eagles coach; Senator Abiola Ajimobi, former Governor of Oyo State, and the FA Chairmen of Ondo, Ogun and Oyo States respectively were also in attendance.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
