COVID-19: LAUTECH Management Directs Staff To Stay Away From Work |OGBOMOSO INFO|





The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso has directed all staff to stay away from work to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus epidemic.

In a memo to members of staff signed by the Registrar of the institution, Dr. Kayode A. Ogunleye, the management wrote that the decision was reached after a meeting to review situations surrounding the welfare of workers held on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

The memo read, "This is to inform the entire University staff that Management met this morning, Wednesday, March 25, 2020, to review situations surrounding workers welfare, especially consequent upon the recent directive of the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, and hereby directs that all staff of LAUTECH stay away from work effective today, Wednesday, 25 March 2020, until after Easter and further directives from the State Government.

The management stated that staff on essential services are not affected by this directive as they are expected to be on duty as usual.

Joint ownership of the institution by Oyo and Osun states has culminated into protracted crises in the institution, which has had telling effects on the students, the staff and its rating as the best state university in Nigeria as well as the relationship between the owner states. Thus, the taking over of the institution by the Oyo State Government is applauded by all and sundry as a pragmatic way of engendering peace.
