The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, has urged women to embrace periodic checks and physical exercise.
The governor’s wife made the remark during the walk for fitness organized by Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Oyo State Women chapter to commemorate this years 2020 International Women’s Day tagged: “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.
Addressing the women, the governor’s wife said exercise had many health benefits such as protection of joints, knees and hips as well as lower blood sugar.
She urged women to embrace periodic medical health check- ups like breast examination blood level, blood pressure among others to know their health status.
Makinde reiterated that the present administration was committed to the welfare and wellbeing of women in the state regardless of their social status.
Also speaking, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Dr Bolanle Olaniyan, urged women to take the education of their children seriously, stressing that education is the bedrock of development.
In her remarks, the lyaloja of Bodija Market, Mrs. Victoria Onipede lauded the present administration for the various women friendly programmes and policies.
