A governor once came to Ogbomoso to seek support for his reelection into office and some elders made bold to ask him to mention one single project the town benefitted from him for the whole four years already spent in office.
Funny enough, the then governor said it was in his plan to complete a structure of just four shops nearly above window level he called Ultra modern market.
One of these elders once again put it to Mr governor that, you mean that structure of four shops is all we gained for the massive votes you got here? And he threw up as some in authority will do.
Mr. Governor forgot that to every start is always an end and that is why a seat of power requires caution. He neither got reelected back into office nor had privilege of riding horse to prove that Ogbomoso is nothing as he had claimed.
Am sure those who are conversant with history will remember how Takie was before another governor came all in the name of urban renewal, demolishing everywhere, leaving portholes on the main road and left with no sign of any construction. The place today is a death trap with the ways it claims lives of the people.
Good enough that history will hold everyone accountable for his deeds and posterity will judge accordingly.
It is on this note we are calling on the honourable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Professor Raphael Afonja, to reflect on the word 'charity begins at home' and do the needful before Takie square and Apake junction cause more damage than they already have.
