LAUTECH Crisis: Oyo – Osun Governors To Meet

The Executive Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday said he will soon meet with the Osun state governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola to find a lasting solution to numerous challenges facing Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Governor Makinde stated this while receiving members of the Institution’s Management who paid him a courtesy call.

He said he is aware that LAUTECH is going through thick and thin but expressed his commitment to rescuing it from the claws of death.

The LAUTECH, Ogbomoso delegation was led by Professor Oladapo Afolabi, Chairman LAUTECH Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor, alongside the Vice-Chancellor , Professor Michael Ologunde, other principal officer of the University.

He assured them of his administration's commitment to providing a lasting solution to the challenges at the university in fulfilment of his campaign promise.

Joint ownership of the institution by Oyo and Osun states has culminated into protracted crises in the institution, which has had telling effects on the students, the staff and its rating as the best state university in Nigeria as well as the relationship between the owner states. Thus, the taking over of the institution by the Oyo State Government is applauded by all and sundry as a pragmatic way of engendering peace.
