Ogbomoso Community Honours Lere Paimo, Okunnu,Ajeyemi,Maigida, Others







Prominent Indigenes of Ogbomoso who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavour was honoured Yesterday.

The event which was tagged "A Night with Stars" was organised by the Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF), a social -cultural organisation founded in 2001 under the leadership of late IGP, Chief Sunday Adewusi, the event  seeks to honour those indigenes who have positively impacted the country, state and the Ogbomoso community.

Major General Oladayo Popoola (rtd) OFR, mni, leader and Chairman of OCF and himself a prominent son of Ogbomoso said the honour was to appreciate the recipient and further encourage them to do more for the Community while also encouraging others to take a cue from this to also impact positively on the society.
He further said “The idea is to honour some of these people in their life time.

"It is better to honour people like him in their life time to show how they are appreciated"

At the colourful event Chief Lere Paimo popularly known as Eda Onileola who turned 80 years old recently was celebrated and honoured his great contribution to the entertainment industry in the country and promotion of Ogbomoso through his epic movie "Ogbori Elemaso"

Among the awardees apart from Chief Lere Paimo are Late Chief Ogundare Foyanmu whose unique poetic chants popularised Ijala Ode, the Gongo Aso crooner, Akande Abolore (9ice)
Alhaji Ramoni Akanni, RKI, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Alhaji Wasiu Agara,Benedict Ayoola, Prince Femi Oyewumi among others was honoured.

Other awardees includes, Dr Samson Adegoke, (Maigida) whose impactful donation of a community maternity centre and E-library to the Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), among other philanthropic gestures have been recognised far and wide and Mr Ayodeji Akande.

Also honoured were entrepreneurs in Ogbomoso for their contributions to the economic development of the ancient city of Ogbomoso.

A prominent Abuja-based Ogbomoso indigene, Air Vice Marshall Jacob Bolaji Adigun(rtd)  chaired the occasion while eminent and revered personalities drawn across Nigeria and beyond  grace the occasion.

Some of the Prominent Ogbomoso indigenes that attended the occasion include, the former Executive Governor Of Oyo State Otunba (Dr) Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr Sunday Akin Dare, Minister For Youth and Sport, Senator Fatai Buhari of Oyo South Senatorial District, Dr Saka Balogun, Oyo Commissioner for Justice, Prof Oyelowo Oyewo, Oyo Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Majority leader Oyo Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, Hon. Simeon Oyeleke of Ogo oluwa/surulere among others.

Oyo Speaker Meets Senate Leadership, Deliberates State Assembly, LG Autonomy |OGBOMOSO INFO|

The Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin met the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan to deliberate issues around financial autonomy for States Assembly and local governments. The brief meeting which was held yesterday after a national legislative assignment in Abuja, it’s considered necessary to improve cooperation between the National Assembly (Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives) and the State legislative arm.
