Barely 24hours after the Oyo state house of assembly passed into law N182billion as the state appropriation bill for the year ending, the Oyo state governor, engineer Seyi Makinde on Wednesday, signed into law a revised 2019 budget of Oyo state.
The brief ceremony was held at the executive chamber of the governors office, Agodi, secretariat, Ibadan.
The bill that seeks to review the appropriation bill, 2019 to the tune of 182,389,434,405,52, from the consolidated revenue of Oyo state in the year ending was re-evaluated from N285billion already proposed bill by the Ajimobi led government.
The sum for total expenditure signed into law was 182,389,434,405,52; being - 98,769,034,202,03 for the recurrent expenditure while 83,620,400,203,49 is meant for capital expenditure.
In his remark, the governor noted that the budget was revised and slashed to enable the state achieved a rapid development with resources at hand. Saying, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
The governor who highlighted the priority sectors of the budget to include infrastructure, education, agriculture, security, health, environment, housing and urban development, directed the ministry of Budget and planning to execute the contents of the revised budget with immediate effect.
Earlier, the speaker, Oyo state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, while presenting the N182billion revised budget to governor Seyi Makinde, noted that the N285Billion proposed bill by Ajimobi led administration was over bloated.
About N103billion was cut-off Ajimobi's proposed 2019 budget before governor Makinde signed the revised bill into law.
