Cutting Costs: I Still Uses My Personal Car - Governor Makinde |OGBOMOSO INFO|

The Executive Governor of Oyo state Engineer Seyi Makinde has stated that he still uses his personal Car and did not approve new cars for his administration officials in order to cut costs of governance in the pacesetter state.

Governor Makinde revealed this during his quarterly media chat on Saturday, December 21st, 2019.

The chat was held by the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state (BCOS) and
Phone lines were opened for Oyo residents to call while the chat was live.

Cost cutting has allowed Oyo state pay salaries

When asked the secret to how Oyo state has been able to pay salaries, the Governor said he had to cut costs.
He not only still drives his personal car, he did not approve new cars to be purchased for the officials in his administration. Considering the uproar over the Nigerian Senate choosing to spend N5.5bn on new cars despite the state of the nation's finances, this was a prudent and necessary decision by the Governor.
Oyo state had over 60 bank accounts which he consolidated into one

the governor said:

"We decided to prioritise the needs of the people of Oyo State. Oyo State had over 60 bank accounts, I asked the Accountant General to consolidate into one account. The total was N6 billion. The IGR has gone up a bit, because we have blocked the loopholes but we will do more."

Oyo state didn't spend any money on Christmas decorations

Governor Makinde said the following:

"Oyo State government didn't spend 1 kobo on the Christmas decorations. It was funded by the usual 'Christmas gift' to the governor, that was what we used to pay for the Christmas decorations so it cost government nothing."

NECO releases 2022 SSCE external results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the November/December 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of NECO, broke the news on Thursday in Minna, the capital of Niger state. The 2022 SSCE for external candidates was held from November 21 to December 21. The NECO registrar said a total of 59,124 candidates sat for the examination, with 31,316 males, representing 52.96 per cent, while 27,808, representing 47.03 per cent, were female. He said 58,012 candidates sat for the English Language with 44,162, representing 76.13 per cent, getting credit and above. According to Wushishi, the number of candidates who wrote Mathematics is 57,700, out of which 43,096, representing 74.69 per cent, got credit and above. He also disclosed that 46,825 candidates, representing 79.20%, got five credits and above — irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
