The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has announced through his Deputy, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan that every local government will have a person with disability as a member of the soon to be inaugurated local government caretaker committees.
"These are clear demonstrations that this administration will prioritise issues pertaining to people with disability." He said.
Every 3rd of December is the International Day Of Persons With Disability.
Oyo state also joined the rest of the world in celebrating the day, with the theme: "Promoting The Participation of Persons With Disability And Their Leadership, Taking Action On The 2030 Development Agenda"
The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan was the special guest of honour at the event marking the day, while he also represented Govenor Makinde who was the chief host of the event.
The colourful event was hosted by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on disability matters, Barr. Ayodele Adekanmbi, a visually impaired lawyer.
