Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in March 9, 2019 gubernatorial election, last night visited former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s Ibadan home.
Though the reason and details of the visit were yet to be confirmed as at this time, a close source said it was aimed at ‘smoothening’ relationship between the duo, especially as the Supreme Court is set to hear the gubernatorial appeal.
Adelabu was said to have been accompanied into Alao-Akala’s Bodija G.R.A residence by Akin Alabi, who represents Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
Adelabu and Alao-Akala who were gubernatorial candidates on the platform of APC until October 1, 2018, when the former governor pulled out. Alao-Akala, sensing that Adelabu had been endorsed by the party leadership as the gubernatorial candidate, announced his withdrawal from the primaries and later joined the Action Democratic Party, ADP.
After the National Assembly election where ADP was able to secure one out of fourteen available representative seats, Alao-Akala rejoined the APC.
Recall that Alao-Akala had actually initiated a coalition of major opposition parties against APC.
The appeal court had, last week, confirmed Seyi Makinde as governor of Oyo State.
This was after the appellate court had discovered that the tribunal erred by not allowing Adelabu tender some documents. But it said it had evaluated it and found that it was not enough to nullify Makinde’s election.
Adelabu, lawyers told newsmen is expected to appeal the judgement while Makinde is to cross appeal.
It was learnt that the appellate court judgement, has awakened members of the APC in the state. This is just as members of the PDP are nursing out what the outcome may be.
