The Speaker, Legislative Arm of Students' Union Government of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso,Rt. Hon. Usman Wasiu Babatunde has lament over the continuous strike that has crippled academic activities at the institution.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Usman Wasiu Babatunde, said, "it is quite unfortunate that the University is still undergoing strike challenges, even when we were made to believe then that, increment in tuition fees will solve and put an end to all strike actions", and the reverse is the case in reality, following the declaration of strike action by the institution workers recently".
In a statement issued by the speaker and sighted by OGBOMOSOINFO. TK, he stated that the students populace are therefore informed that consultations had been ongoing by the leadership of the Union especially with necessary stakeholders in order to get the University open as soon as possible for academic activities.
ON STATE OF THE UNIVERSITY
He said that, "the University Management and the two Visitors (the Governments of Oyo and Osun States) are to be on alert to face the Mass action of frustrated Students who had been stranded and kept idle in school by this strike action any moment from now as we are resolute to get the University open for academic activities. The destructive effects of strike actions on our students lives can not be overemphasized. The entire Lautech Students are hereby saying Enough is enough."
STATE OF THE UNION
Rt. Hon. Babatunde "The attention of the Speaker, Lautech Students Union Government, Rt. Hon. Usman Wasiu Babatunde (Speaker Otunba) had been drawn to the actions of some of the immediate past and dissolved executives of the Union who keep parading themselves as officials of the Union and keep using the Union name for their selfish gains, extorting from eminent personalities and spoiling the good image and reputation of the Union and the university community.

The immediate past President, Abiodun Oluwaseun Laurel who still uses every forum and go around acting as the President. This was noticed during the last Alumni Program and the issuing of Notifications and Press Release as active Union officer to the general public."
He maintained that as the Speaker who is reputed to be the custodian of the Union constitution is imperative in order to call the attention of all students and necessary stakeholders of this aberration from some of the officials of the dissolved executives.
"It should be noted that the Students Union Government Executives had been dissolved since Friday, September 27th, 2019. However, according to Article 2, Section 11, Subsection 5, the Speaker remains as an undissolved officer of the Union until the next election. The Speaker remains the only and standing officer of the Union directly elected by the Students. The Judiciary Council of the Union however remains in office until the composition of a new commission in line with Article 4, section 38, subsection 3."
Babatunde further said that" The Electoral body of the Union which according to the policy of the university shall be best Students across all the departments when inaugurated shall oversee the Conduct of the election only in line with Article 6, Section 52, subsection 6 of the Union Constitution.
" This policy according to the management is to bring more credibility and fairness to students elections. However the Management does not have the power whatsoever to dictate who should run the affairs of the Union for us."
"Anybody from the dissolved Executives that still parades himself/herself or represent the University in any gathering as Union officers will henceforth be seriously dealt with and proper actions taken against such errant individual.
