Oyo Moves For Sole Ownership Of LAUTECH, As Makinde Set Up 5-Man Committee To Meet Osun |OGBOMOSO INFO|

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has set up a 5-man Committee to work on how to find a lasting solution to problem facing Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

The Committee members are expected to work with their counterpart from Osun state.

The mandate of the committe is to secure a divorce for Oyo State from joint ownership of the university with Osun State.

It could be recall that the Oyo and Osun State Governors met in Abuja recently.

According to Governor Makinde "The Committee’s mandate is to, in a manner of speaking, secure a divorce for Oyo State from joint ownership of the university with Osun State. I thanked them for accepting to serve and urged them to put their hearts into this work and submit a preliminary report in four weeks."

The 5-person Committee includes, Professor Ayodeji Omole (Chairman of the Committee), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), Professor Oyelowo Oyewo, and Professor Daud Shangodoyin to look into the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) ownership and other related issues.

Joint ownership of the institution by Oyo and Osun states has culminated into protracted crises in the institution, which has had telling effects on the students, the staff and its rating as the best state university in Nigeria as well as the relationship between the owner states. Thus, the taking over of the institution by the Oyo State Government is applauded by all and sundry as a pragmatic way of engendering peace.
