Oyo state government has commenced capacity building workshop for principals and vice principals of public schools across the state with the aim of improving performances of students and state ranking in external examination in the state.
The workshop which took off in Saki in Oke -Ogun, is to be held across the three senatorial district of the state.
Addressing participants before the training, chairman of Oyo state teaching service commission, Pastor Akinade Alamu said with the huge investment government had begun making in the education sector, it was only reasonable to justify the investment.
The chairman also noted that with the budgetary allocation for education surpassing the UNESCO standard, Governor Seyi Makinde has shown commended gesture to the sector, while charging principals and vice principals to be focused in positively transforming the sector.
Earlier the commissioner for education, who was represented by the director of curriculum development Mr. Tunde Adekunle, said the training underscores the fact that the quality of teachers and school administrator, would impact on the quality of students hence the need for such capacity workshop.
Papers on financial prudence in management of public schools, and building high moral standard were presented by resources persons with over four hundred and fifty participants in attendance.
